Billfish

Billfish—a group that includes marlins, sailfish, and spearfish—belong to the family Istiophoridae. Defined by their elongated, spear-like upper jaws, streamlined bodies, and long dorsal fins, these powerful predators use bursts of speed, agility, and precision to hunt in warm ocean waters across the globe.

As the most prized big game fish to offshore anglers, Wild Oceans has built out robust programs on billfish science, advocacy, and education. From our research that broke ground in Kona, Hawaii to passing national legislation and hosting International Billfish Symposia, Wild Oceans has one of the most comprehensive portfolios of work on billfish conservation in the world.
